Andrew Nurnberg Associates

A new chapter for an international literary agency

Andrew Nurnberg Associates is a leading international literary agency representing authors and publishing rights across the world.

Numen Fort was appointed to create a new brand identity and digital presence that would reflect the agency’s heritage, international reach and forward-looking approach. The project brought together strategy, identity, website design and development, brand guidelines and a full suite of communications, creating a more coherent foundation for the agency’s next chapter.

The Identity

A distinctive identity with literary character

The new identity needed to feel established without appearing traditional, and contemporary without losing the authority and warmth associated with the agency.

We developed a refined typographic identity centred around the ANA monogram and full Andrew Nurnberg Associates wordmark. The letterforms create a strong and recognisable visual signature, while the wider system uses editorial typography, a carefully balanced colour palette and understated graphic details to reflect the world of books, publishing and storytelling.

Designed to work across both formal and everyday communications, the identity gives ANA a confident presence while remaining flexible enough for digital, print and international use.

Our Approach

Built on heritage, shaped for the future

Our approach drew on the history of Andrew Nurnberg Associates, from its early publishing roots and Bloomsbury surroundings to the international agency it is today.

These references informed a brand system that feels literary, established and enduring, while giving ANA a clearer and more contemporary expression across every touchpoint.

The Brand in Use

A consistent presence across every touchpoint

The identity was applied across a wide range of physical and digital materials, ensuring the brand felt consistent wherever clients, authors and publishing partners encountered it.

From business cards, letterheads and mailing labels to presentation materials, tote bags and office signage, every application was designed to feel part of the same visual world. The restrained use of colour, typography and space allows the identity to remain distinctive without becoming overly decorative.

A detailed brand guide was created to support the internal team and provide a clear framework for future communications, helping ANA maintain consistency as the brand continues to develop.

The Digital Experience

An editorial website built around the agency’s work

The new website translates the identity into a digital experience that feels clear, editorial and easy to navigate.

The site was designed and developed around the needs of ANA’s authors, agents, publishing partners and international visitors. It provides a structured way to explore the agency’s people, representation areas, territories and latest news, while giving the internal team flexible control over content and presentation.

Custom functionality and a tailored administration area make it easier for the team to manage agents, authors, territories and updates without compromising the design. Subtle movement, strong typography and considered use of colour bring the brand to life while keeping the focus firmly on the agency and its work.

The Outcome

A unified brand for the next stage of ANA’s growth

The completed project gave Andrew Nurnberg Associates a more distinctive and cohesive presence across its identity, website and communications.

The new system respects the agency’s history while presenting a clearer and more contemporary expression of who it is today. It provides the London team with practical tools for managing the brand and creates a flexible framework that can support future communications, international offices and continued growth.

The result is a brand that feels established, intelligent and unmistakably ANA.
